Hi again folks !

we are here!!!

Arrived in Auckland safe and sound on tuesday, picked up car and drove down to our holiday rental that we've taken for 3 weeks in Tauranga.

Weather on arrival was grey and dismal and by that evening we had a major storm and power cut! but have to say it's picked up over the 5/6 days we've been here and today we've spent the afternoon on the beach in very pleasant NZ temperatures (aka.. hot!!).

Nice to relax today and do nothing as we seem to have been pretty busy since arriving (feels like we've been here weeks!)

We have sorted: bank accounts, mobile phone, internet (vodafone mobile dongle thing for now- but it was vital!!), bought a sat nav (excellent advice from Mickstim!), chosen a family car (pick it up next week) and Sam has even had an interview!
AND... we went down to Hamilton to see PP & BBB (thanks for lunch guys :nice1), managed to meet up with Dolans in Cambridge and popped in to visit Barb (Mickstim) as well :clap

managed to get to the beach a few times now - it's just a short walk from the house. Can hardly believe how beautiful it is, clean, quiet, peaceful, gorgeous scenery. Sat watching the kids playing and got that tear in my eye (at last!). Feels just right to be here :yes

Tauranga is pretty cool, not seen it all yet but been into the CBD few times and again it's clean and quiet - not like any town/city I'm used to! Mount looks like real nice place to spend day too. We are in Papamoa which is much more beach life orientated - which is great for us for these first few "holiday" weeks. Not sure if it would suit us for personally for permanent home.

Didn't get long to look around Cambridge on our trip down (Sam had interview there) but we loved what we did see and intend to get down again soon for better look see ;)

So.. so far so good.
Fingers crossed for the job - but surely things won't be that easy?!!
any of my facebook pals can see my pics on there
off to have a beer in the sun !

Vicki, Sam & Co. it was great to see you on our side of the world at long last. We also have our fingers crossed for the job for Sam - we're guessing it wasn't an outright no? You've even got your first lot of redirected mail from the UK how great is that? Anyway will definitely see you again soon when hopefully you'll have had a bit more of a chance to take a deep breath. :D

thanks everyone :nice1

Have changed location to NZ - not putting in town until we decide where we are settling!

Loving the sunshine last couple of days - even though I forgot the suncream yesterday and we all went a little pink :o oops!!

Picked up my new car today and very happy too :D
sorted car insurance (with AMI) who seemed very reasonable and we'll get extra discounts too when we insure home/contents etc etc

all pretty easy to sort - nothing like UK!

Had a browse round some thrift/secondhand shops too today - I thought lots more furniture available than we're used to in UK charity shops etc.

did more supermarket shopping - been to New World and countdown so far so still comparing etc. Hubbie likes Mitre 10, Kids love the $2 shop :D

Don't know what happened to the jetlag!! we went to bed at 7pm first night and slept 12hrs and after that just been pretty tired and ready for bed by 9 or 10pm ish but not big deal really!

not heard back from the company he went to see yet so he's going to start making some more phone calls etc now. Anyone know anyone that needs a joiner in the Hamilton or Tauranga areas??!! ;)
