I've just made an appointment for us to have our medicals done in Birmingham (thanks for the contact Diny) :nice1 on April 7th.

They told me that the prices are going up quite drastically - but they don't know how much!!

Anybody any ideas?

We'll have to pay anyway so the cost is irrelevant, but I'd just as soon know what to expect. :eek

Cheers

Ok, I asked my case officer today and they said that they envisaged the costs would be ... wait for it.. approx £300 - 400 per person in the UK and c. NZ$700 here in NZ (including bloods, urine (which will be more intensive and need to be sent away instead of the dipstick test currently used) and xrays. This is based on sample forms and new regs that they sent to panel docs worldwide and GP's in NZ over the last couple of months (my doc had recieved a copy and was gobsmacked by the SIZE of the forms!)

:eek

Plus, if you are a smoker be prepared to undergo a much more complex set of questions, including respiratory tests! :eek

If you can get your meds done now, then it's worth it, but only if you have your ITA as, from experience, most will run out if you do them at "selected from EOI" stage as they only last 3 months. Although, Xrays do stay valid for ONE YEAR - not something they tell you but had it confirmed by NZIS.

I've got my ITA and if your application is sent in after 4th April then you have to send the new medical forms with it. You can't get them done the old (cheaper) way and then submit after 4th April.

As a long term smoker I need to get my ITA in asap. My police certs have run out, but they will accept the old ones, pending receipt of the new ones and they want a full assessment by NZQA of my banking qual. but will accept the preliminary assessment until I get the full assessment. Which is all very kind of them really. :yes They won't process it but will wait for the new info. but at least I should be able to get it submiited before the end of March. :hopeso

I'm absolutely terrified of what the NZQA assessment will say - as it looks like a few people have fallen at that final hurdle. I asked them if, now that I'm working full time, I didn't need to bother with full assessment, but they said I'm not in a 'skilled' occupation, so I don't get the extra 50 points I was hoping for. So if my qual. isn't good enough we are totally up s***t creek.

We sent our police checks off 2 weeks ago. If they take the estimated time ( up to 40 days) our visa application will exceed the 04/04 date.
I was told I could submit and send polce checks off later???????????

I rang NZIS to explain we had had our medicals done in Feb and are waiting on police checks, would we have to have new meds done if the application was to go in after 04/04?

She said 'NO' we couldnt send them off later and 'NO' we wouldnt have to have new meds done.

Hope this helps. :nice1 :nice1
