We are off to the expo on Saturday, anyone got any tips fpr us?

We are taking CVs, and wondered if there was any good advice from those who have visited previously, what to look for etc.

Thanks on advance

Helen

We went to the London expo back in spring '07 and took lots of copies of CV's as we handed more than one out. The best tip I was given, was to make sure you have all your immigration questions down on paper and the first thing you head for is the NZIS stand. When we got there is was very quiet, but if we had left it for half an hour we would have been in a massive queue.

what sort of questions will NZIS answer? will they be specific to your case or general queries? can you quote your EOI reference number and they'll bring up your details?
regarding CV's, how have you positioned your CV as it would have to be a general one rather than aimed at a specific job as per usual?

as we are aiming to be in NZ next september, i am looking to use my CV to establish how I fit in to the job market in NZ as the likelihood of getting a job offer one year in advance is pretty slim! will recruiters have time to go through my CV with me or is it a case of passing it out and then contacting after the event for feedback or am i wasting my time?
btw, i work in finance which is quite a broad spectrum and as we all know, the finance rules are being rewritten as i type

Only advice I would give would be take your CV on a memory stick as we took both hard copies aswell but they all just downloaded them.
Apart from that we just targeted the employers we knew would want us
Good luck all & see you on the other side soon I'm sure

It wouldn,t do any harm to take references if you have them.We went to Harrogate expo in March and the employers there were glad to see the references as well as the cv.

Good luck to you guys.:nice1

Thanks for all replies so far.
My OH has his CV all sorted, and we are looking forward to finding out lots of info. Now I wonder if they have any advice on selling your house quickly...? ;)
