Anyone needed medicals to be re-done?

Thinking we were being ultra organised we had our medicals done at about the same time as submitting our EOI - big mistake.
We knew the EOI would be drawn because of the points and job offer, but thought that things would move faster than they have and the medicals have just expired.
Sent a message to our CO,who replied to the effect of 'yes you'll need new medicals'. I just wondered if anyone else had been in this situation and if there was an alternative. None of us has visited our GP since the medicals.
Thanks!

As far as I was aware,if the medicals had been lodged with NZIS within the timescale then they were good for 24 months unless your health changes...hope someone can confirm this as this is my understanding of it.:)

I assume that you are saying that you haven't yet submitted your ITA and thus have not yet submitted your medicals.
Then yes they must have been done within 3 months of the date you submit your ITA, so it does appear that they won't be accepted.
My only suggestion would be to talk to the panel doctor that you had the medicals done at. I've seen mention on the forum before where someone went back to the doctor who just changed the date on the forms (don't think that the reason was that they had expired however).
I'm not sure you will be that lucky, but seeing as they have done most of the work previously e.g. medical history which won't have changed, you may at least be able to get a discount off them, got to be worh a try?

Thanks for the messages, we have submitted the ITA, NZIS have them lodged as rec'd on the 11th September, at that time they were current, but on our What's Happening page on the NZIS website it says "When your health certificate status has expired, Immigration New Zealand will request another health certificate from you." When I mentioned this to our CO her reply was "You will definitely need to submit your application before the medicals expire or it's more than likely you will need new ones."
which confused me because she's our Visa Officer so she knows we've submitted the application.
Hope this makes sense, I find it quite difficult to explain things sometimes!
Thanks

If you submitted it within time then it will remain valid with NZIS for two years, so looks like you should be Ok.

I am also fretting about the exact same thing!!!
We received our ITA this week and I wanted to book our medicals asap. I called the panel doctor closest to our house and the receptionist wanted to know the exact day we are leaving the country. She said the medical needs to be done just before we leave because it is only valid for 3 months! BUT the ITA wants it within the next 4 months. The ITA will definately get it with our application but by the time we leave middle next year the medical will be alot older than 3 months.
From what i'm reading, as long as the medical is valid when we submit our ITA then its fine. Doesn't matter when we leave? I'm hoping the receptionist was just assuming that we were going cowboy style!!
Any thoughts?
Sorry to hijack this thread!!

This is true. Receptionists mean well but they can confuse you!

No Probs Susan! Sometimes it helps just to know there's someone having the same problem/query.
I'm wondering if the CO does their bit, but requires further information (as in our case) obviously the time is running out on the medicals before they even reach the Medical Assessor, so would the MA consider the medicals 'out of date' despite the fact they've been on someones desk for several weeks? Or is it that as long as they reach the CO within the three months that's ok?
Does that make sense? I think this process is sending me doo-lally! :yes

It makes total sense hey!! Hopefully they will consider that aspect hey, maybe they date the applications when received. Surely this must have happened to alot of people, they can't send everyone back to re-do their medicals??
Tell me about being doo-lally as you say, i think i'm losing it!! ;)

When I started the thread I think my thought process was that if no-one else had had to re-do their medicals then hopefully we wouldn't have to either - although I'm fast forming the opinion that there's no hard and fast rules with NZIS! I just wish they'd get on with it.
Good luck with your journey, I guess you have to be doo-lally to undertake the journey in the first place!!

Hiya
We had our medicals done on 25th June, submitted ITA with full report on 24th July, NZIS has listed them as received 1st Aug. OH had to send in some additional info and we've just heard that it has been cleared with the MA's. We're not expected to re-do them, even though it has now been more than 3 months since they were done, so I'd not worry. As long as you've submitted them within the 3 months, you should be fine.

As soon as your medicals are lodged with NZIS you do not have to have them redone, even if the application process lasts more than three months, but you may be required to have them redone if your application has been live and unresolved for over 2 yrs.
Our medical did run out as we had them done after our EOI was selected but, at that time, it was taking up to 6 mths to get the ITAs, but we took a chance and it didn't pay off. However, we did find a panel doc in NZ who re-did the forms for a small fee, he basically just copied it over, confirming the answers were the same - he did do the blood tests again but it worked out cheaper than UK.
Interestingly we didn't have to have our xrays redone as they are valid for six months (at least they were in 2004!).

I was wondering who your case officer is as ours has made lots of mistakes and wrong recommendations, hence my husband is now working in NZ and we are still waiting.:wah
