Hi,
I received an emauil from my case worker with the following in it:

As mentioned you can't obtain provisional registration until you are
actually in NZ and have an offer of employment. Because of this we
would be unable to offer you residence straight away. Although
decisions are made on a case by case basis, this is usually the case for
electricians and plumbers because of the registration issue.

If I only get a 2 year work visa so that I can get a job offer and register as an electrician, can anyone tell me if I have to pay for the whole process of PR again?? Ie would I have to submit EOI, ITA etc again and pay for it all again???

Any help appreciated
Thanks
Nick

not an expert by any menas, but the way i understnad it yeah paying for a 2 yr visa doesnt mean you dont have to pay again for PR. in my case though i went straight for the visa. do you mean if youve already paid for EOI etc will you have to pay again? not sure bout that one, but the medicals and police checks etc will certainly need doing again if you dont apply for PR within the time span that theyre still valied from your visa application.

Hi, this is the email I received today after the phone interview:

Hello Nick

Re residency or work to residence.

If you were to obtain a job offer soon and it met criteria of being skilled employment we could offer residency, as you have some work experience in this area.

As your application stands we can only offer the work to residence as it is based on your qualifications as an electrician. If you are invited to apply for the work to residency (no fee) you would need to apply within 3 months of our letter inviting you, and the visas would be valid for 2 years once issued. Within those two years you would need to obtain an offer of skilled employment. Your wife would be issued with a work visa and son a student visa.

Hope this answers your question
Cheers
Nick
