Need a retaining wall???

This is aimed specifically at the Waikato residents, and maybe those slightly further afield but not too far.

Having recently the need to erect a retaining wall we were very shocked at the price we were quoted...10k. Now that included a labour cost of 7k for no more than 4 days work. In this price he hadn't even quoted for the cut and removal of material. Needless to say we thought time to rip the Poms off, however that wasn't the case as a work colleague of mine also had a quote and that came in higher than we expected, so the deal was do it ourselves and this we did. These pic's show how the job ended up. Not bad if a do say so myself.

Now for those requiring a retaining wall within the said locations please bear us in mind if you feel that the price you have been quoted is a tad high. We will be willing to come along and quote cheaper in labour costs. Unfortunately we aren't able at this present time to bring trade costs on the materials, but we will definately undercut the labour costs. In all, our time on the job was around 20hrs, which would equate to roughly 2 weekends on the job. Please bear in mind we do have fulltime jobs to attend.

So the offer is there to be taken up, even if you just want a quote.

Very impressive Kim. If we ever need a wall building we'll keep you in mind and yes, where are the photos of the house?

Your efforts are impressive Kim, good on you for having a go yourself.
Just a thought, but when we last spoke you were still awaiting PR if I recall. If that is the case, are you sure you would be allowed to carry out this type of work?
I dont want to rain on your parade mate....just a passing thought. I wouldnt want to see you fall foul of the powers that be.
I too have been gobsmacked by the labour content on some of the quotes that I have seen from the company that I work for.

Thanks for your concern Tim, but seeing it's Elaine on the WTR i have the opportunity to do what i want away from the trucking scene. However this little business concern will only be part time, with the odd job now and then...............IF WE GET THEM!!!

Now i am bumping up the thread again. Is there anybody within this locality who may need one in the very near future? If so drop me a line after you get the quote in from the sharks out there.
