I have submitted an ITA with 115 points and no job offer. My CO has given me a timeline of about 6-8 months to process my ITA. In the meantime I have got an acceptance for a PhD program in a New Zealand University. I have the following questions:
1)If I opt for a student visa, will my ITA be cancelled? Or they will process it as per schedule.
2)If the CO calls for an interview and I am in New Zealand pursuing the Doctorate program, will the ITA be considered for a PR or WTR? Since a full time Doctoral program is not considered a skilled employment, will the CO turn down my ITA?
3)Can I defer the ITA for a period of 3 years, without withdrawing it till I complete the PhD program or will have to submit a fresh EOI after completion of the program?
4)How is the job market for university faculty positions? Will a PhD from New Zealand university be helpful for these positions in the country?
I am confused and not able to make up my mind if I want to go for the Doctoral program on a student visa or wait for the PR process, which is really taking a long time!!!! I will appreciate your suggestions.

Personally i would chose to pursue the doctorate, but i don't have the answers to any of your questions, just a good luck wish!
