Okay I WILL write a first impressions post, promise. At the moment we're on a whistle-stop tour of the NI, and quite frankly I'm having too much fun!

I'll write more later, but in a nutshell: the good stuff is everything we expected, and the bad stuff is nothing like as bad as we were lead to believe. How's that?

Yesterday we passed through Hamilton (best thing to do, I reckon) and Cambridge (quite pretty but a bit agricultural) and then spent the afternoon in Rotorua. Really nice place, and just starting to wake up to the summer season ahead. We went on the gondola, and then down the luge! Pictures when I can get at them - I left the stupid cable at home!

Today, down to Taupo to see the waterfalls, then the evening in Napier to meet a mate of my dads. The object is to get a picture of his number one son and his best mate together, BOTH of whom abandoned him to come to NZ. This will make him so happy his head will likely explode. That's the sort of guy he is. Wish he could be here and see it in person :cool:

Anyway, my latte has arrived. Hard life innit?

Bit hard on Hamilton, it isn't such a bad place, I think you'll find "Rotovegas" is similar in it's problems... and it doesn't half pen and ink :laugh
