Hi everyone
My partner and I have recently moved to Wellington (Hataitai) from Durban, South Africa. I am here on study visa (busy with a PhD at Vic University) and we managed to organise a "partnership-based" work permit for my partner. He is a fisheries scientist and is looking for some work in the environmental science field here....no luck yet though!
As we are new to the city we are still in the process of settling in etc. so we would love to hear from anyone else who may be in our shoes...maybe even any fellow South Africans who may be residing in Wellington?

Welcome.
I have a friend here who is a marine biologist, she may be able to help in your search for a job. PM me if you're interested.

I'd say we're in very similar shoes. My wife and I arrived in Wellington today. I'm starting my Ph.D. study at VUW, and Sally will be working. Increasing the similarities, both she and I have Biology degrees. (In fact, mine had a marine biology emphasis, although I am now in Computer Science.) We are not from South Africa, but maybe you won't hold that against us. ;) If you'd like to meet some time, that'd be cool!
Regards,
Keith

Hi Pierre & Dotty! Welcome to the forum. :) You'll have to post a few more times (outside The Lounge - those posts don't count towards your post count) to be able to send Private Messages.
My next-door neighbours are from Durban, but unfortunately I can't help with the job, sorry! :(
