I have receievd my ITA and will start working on it this weekend. All medicals are booked.
I have to supply some evidence that I have worked for my past employers for the ITA. I worked for 5 yrs in the UK but that was 16-21 years ago (I am dating myself) and I have had no contact with them since I left. My school of nursing is now no more as is one of my hospitals. Any idea of how to go about getting letters from employers that long ago? I am now living in the US.
I do not have any P45 or P60's (cannot remember which is which) to prove that I worked fo rthem.
They are asking for a letter asking how long I worked for them, how many hourse etc.
I know how to do this for the US employers, just not the Uk,
Thanks.
:cheers

I had this problem with one of my employers who is no more, but I searched on my Professional bodies membership register, found my former senior partner, and wrote directly to him. He has given me a reference, although it is on plain paper and has advised that he is quite happy to provide a sworn statement should it be required which my agents have said might be the case as it is not on headed paper.

Is there anyway you can check the Nursing register and see if you can find line managers/ colleagues?

This (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/leaflets/dp-fs1.htm#5) page will help you access your tax and national insurance records. I requested mine going all the way back to 1994 and it wasn't a problem. You'll need to write to the Newcastle address.
I had the information back within a few weeks and it has already proved useful - I had one ex employer write back to me the day they received the letter saying "we cannot find your records; the company was taken over last year". They obviously looked really hard!

I know people have been able to track down previous schools of nursing but I don't know how they did it.

Out of curiosity, which school of nursing and hospital? I have worked in the Merseyside/Manchester/Cheshire region in nursing since 1992 so I may be able to help or at least ask around.
