R43 - How Long Till You Got Your Dosh?

Hi all,

Now I'd like to think I'm a patient kinda a gal, but it's starting to wear very thin with the UK Inland Revenue.

I completed 2 x R43 (myself & hubby) in June and I'm still waiting for my money. In the numerous phone calls I have established:
a) they received the forms
b) due to back logs the forms were only marked as being received on the system in August
c) although I was given October as a guide line, this turns out to be 'gawd knows when' due to staff shortages and huge workloads
d) Mr Tax Man has thousands of £ of my dosh and isn't in any rush to give it back.

* Growls and mutters under her breath *

So my question is this:
Have you completed and sent an R43 form for the tax year 08 and have you had your dosh?

Please only vote if it's an R43 (the one which you claim back tax paid on interest from bank accounts etc in the UK) that you completed.

Blimey & I thought that Sept. was a long time. I've voted & it would appear from your comments that I may as well let christmas come & go & lay back in the sun & think of ....

Oh don't get me started .... grrrrr .... steam coming out of ears. It was not until I put in a formal complaint in writing and had it couriered to the Plymouth tax office that they gave me my money. In between times I was given inaccurate advice, had my forms sent back because of the inaccurate advice, had my forms lost ..... oh God I'm going to have to stop because my blood pressure is rising.

Oh sorry, I voted, and it wasn't the R43. It was the self-assessment form.

I just saw the words 'UK Inland Revenue' and the red mist descended and I didn't read it properly. Sorry.

So I think so far with the poll, the only 2 people that said that they've received their money, didn't actually complete an R43.

So everyone who completed and sent off an R43 still waiting for their dosh :uhoh

Just to update..... we received our dosh this week. £200 short, but I don't think it's worth the stress chasing after it :uhoh

Hope this means everyone else will get there's soon as well.

Well that was good timing as I was going to "bump" a previous thread. My R43 was acknowledged 15 August but officially received (good grief) in Sept. They are currently doing July R43s so I was told to call back around the end of January for an update. I phoned 45 minutes ago btw. Reason 2,978 I'm glad I left the UK.

Well here's the update on form R43/R40. Today I received confirmation (dated 12 Jan 2009) from UK HM revenue & customs that my tax refund has been approved. It's for the entire amount I asked for & is being transferred to my nominated UK bank.
So for you patient peeps out there, it'll take about 6 months.

So the usual 'pot luck' seems to apply then! I guess they're processing them in random order, since Kirsty and my apps were sent off at the same time, related to the same employer, and were for roughly the same amount. I got mine mid Decemeber and Kirsty hasn't even heard.

MInd you, I didn't get any info at all off them other than a cheque, so even in my case they weren't exactly communicative.

That's what baffles me.... you send 2 x applications (you have to if it's a joint account) in the same envelope but you can wait weeks apart before you both receive a refund ???

This has become a saga. As of yesterday, the refund due has not been credited to my nominated account. I sat up to phone Notts. about this. They say to give up to 20 days .... um ... oh it's longer than that isn't it? So a very nice lady took my no. & phoned Worthing. A quick call back & yes my cheque hasn't been cashed. They missed out one letter in my surname & suspect it's been bounced back but don't have the process to confirm that. Anyway, They now have to wait to receive a confirmation from Worthing, then process the actual refund AGAIN before sending it to somewhere in Scotland to have the cheque issued! This is expected to take 2-3 weeks up to a maximum of 6 weeks. They apparently are processing Sept. claims now. The workload is unprecedented with up to 4,000 claims as opposed to 1,000 last April. They are begging for extra staff without success. This is what I've been told.
PS. I received my NZ tax refund within 10 days. I'll post again on developments.

Update as promised. My cheque was finally credited to my account on Friday 5th March 2009. So just over the 7 months. Just for the fun of it, i'm going to submit hubby's now.
