Hi All

Is there are any nurses out there who have completed the registration for the NZ nursing council could you please advise:-

i) Who you used as a witness to the signature for statutory declaration (fitness to register) Similarly who did you use to 'certify' a copy of documentation i.e. passport, birth certificates, nursing registration certificate

ii) Can any one advise what an Police Certificate is or what it may equate to in the UK?

Any help would be greatly apprecited

Many Thanks

Dawn

Hi Dawn
I used the senior staff in the job I was in for the declarations. Used a lawyer to certify copies of passports etc.
The police cert thing has changed since we did it, I'm sure someone else will be along who knows. Just remember you need 3 police certs as you need originals for NZNC, ITA and the DHB ( or agency).
I'd advise you send everything to NZNC recorded delivery and follow it up with a phonecall as they lost a lot of my stuff. I thought they were processing my application and they were waiting on docs they'd misplaced.
We left Cheshire for Auckland in Jan 2007 and have never looked back.
Good Luck

Hi Dawn,

For the police cert see http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp

For certified copies we used the solicitor who was dealing with our house sale so any solicitor would do.

With regards to witnesing your signiture I think it some one proffesional registration ie Doctor, Nurse, etc

Good luck with the application

Hi Dawn

I've just applied for my police checks in the UK and the link posted above is the correct one. You need to send the completed application form with a nice cheque for £35 (or £70 for premium service), a certified passport type photo, photocopies of your passport picture page and 2 recent utility bills proving your address. I got a nurse collegue to certify my photos etc.

Haven't sent off my application to the NZ nursing council yet as I need my police checks first!

Good Luck

I've recently sent mine off but haven't heard anything and need to phone them. I'm still waiting for proof of hours that I've requested from the employers I've had in the last 3 years, my transcript to be sent and my payment hasn't yet been taken by the NZNC. I am probably also needing 2 references.

I sent mine 'international signed for' on the advice of the man at the Post Office counter but this doesn't track all the way to NZ. In my case it stopped tracking at Hong Kong! Use a service called Airsure or a courier instead. I'll probably send my proof of hours by courier to be sure!

I tried to get my papers signed at the magistrates court but was a bit messed about and sent between magistrates and county courts. Eventually I was told the mag. court would charge £50 and to look for a solicitor advertising 'Commissioner for Oaths' in the window. I did this and they were really helpful. I used them to witness my declaration and certify my documents. they charged £20 for the 4 documents.

I don't know if you already know this but for all International applications received after Jan 1st 2009 the NZNC will require an English language test.

I'm a South African RN, and have completed my NZ registration process.

My copies were certified by an attorney - free of charge!

My police clearances took ages to come through, but that was just typical African bureaucratic inefficiency.

I sent all my docs together by courier and was able to track on the courier website all the way to NZ. My transcripts and verification were couriered over by the SA nursing council and they gave me the tracking number so I was also able to follow the delivery progress. My professional and personal references and confirmation of hours worked were sent by ordinary mail. I checked with the NZ Council several times and they confirmed receiving all the items.

Time from start to finish: Sent off first requests for documents in mid-June, and got my registration letter from NZ in late October.

Good luck!! :-)
