I didn't want to break the thread on the other topic, so here it goes.

If I get a switching power supply, will all I need to do is get the correct power cord? It won't hurt my motherboard, etc., right? Sorry, but i'm electrically challenged.

totally correct, the psu will do all the conversion stuff
