Quarantine facilities in Christchurch?

We are planning on shipping our two cats (and dog eventually) from the U.S. to Christchurch. I've looked at the nz website list of approved quarantine facilities and see one that is in Christchurch. Are there any other facilities on the list that are in CChch or nearby? Can anyone recommend a specific place (did your pets survive?) :uhoh

It's been three years, but my dog stayed at Canterbury Quarantine for a month and survived. :) I ended up coming to NZ after he did, so I didn't visit him there except to pick him up. I was favorably impressed when I finally did see the place.

I think Bunny Lodge offer quarantine facilities. You could email them from their website. It's a great pet hotel, we board our dogs there often. They love the swimming pool :D

Thanks for this information because that was a big concern of ours for our two pets. I like the sound of the Canterbury Quarantines.

For shipping your pet I can definitely recommend using IPTlax (http://www.iptlax.com/). They took great care of my cat and helped me sort everything out when there were some problems with his paperwork (with only a week to go).

good to know about IPTlax- I got a quote from them and I think we will be using them since my cats will be staying with my mom in LA for a few months and follow us when their 6 months period is up. I just had them vaccinated last week and titre testing will be in a few weeks. One of my cats had an allergic reaction to the vaccination :uhoh It was very scary! Diana from IPTlax assured me there should be no more vaccinations for awhile...

Nope! And once they get to NZ no more rabies vaccines!

This is correct, and it's a fine operation - we (the golden retriever and I, although I got to leave quarantine at the end of each visit and she didn't) went through it in August without any trouble. Only problem is it is a bit of a trek out of town; you will need a car to get out there as it's not accessible any other way.

ok thanks. I guess I'll need to figure out how to drive on the other side of the road :uhoh I'm a bit worried about that!

Driving on the other side of the road is not nearly as scary as you think it would be. It does take a little concentration at first, especially while turning (I want to go to THAT side of the road), but it's really not that bad.

I learned how to drive on the left side of the road while learning how to drive a stick shift... that made it even more fun!!!
