What a crappy week we've had!

Just when we thought things were really moving with NZIS, they emailed to inform us that they needed more information relating to the OH. He had to get a statutory declaration to prove that he is who he says he is.....very long story! Not as dodgy as it sounds....honest! Then a second police check. As if that wasn't enough, he had to have his passport renewed too as it had some wear and tear on the corner and they said they'd not be able to issue the visa into it as the laminate was lifting! I figured there was no use getting upset about it all and we should just focus on getting it all sorted. Got everything done in a week, last documents back today....yay!

Emailed copies to our CO with a view to sending originals tomorrow. Would you believe it, I got an auto out of office reply to say that she no longer works for the London Branch.....Aaaarrrggh!!

Thankfully, she had indicated an alternative email address so I've sent everything to that addy as well....fingers crossed that this won't hold us up too much longer. We were looking at getting a decision next week!?

Sorry for the rant but I'm getting a tad fed up of the rollercoaster ride now! Want to get off :exit

That sounds like series of unfortunate decisions, and well worth a little rant!

I too had to submit a notarized letter prooving I am who I say I am. In my case it was because I cannot provide my original long form birth certificate. (I am adopted, so I dont even have access to it). I thought it was a bit silly as I was already in NZ so had to get a JP to write a letter and notarize it saying they knew me. However that person had only known me for a little while.

Hope everything sorts itself out soon, as my grandmother used to say... these things are sent to try us!

Don't get off! It's just one of those loops they put in just to spice up the ride a bit. Hang on, you'll get there.

Yup, you're just at the white knuckle bit before it starts to flatten out (for a while)

I hear ya!

I got an email from the guy working on our kids' NZ citizenships a couple of days after they received them. They needed more info (also adoption stuff that is very difficult and expensive to obtain) and our mastercard wouldn't go through. I called the credit card company and they had flagged it as fraudulent activity (large amount, foreign country) and removed the memo on my account. I emailed the citizenship guy back (same day) and told him to go ahead and charge it again, and he was out of the office for two weeks! So he comes back after his vacation time, tries to charge it again, and it's rejected again because it took so long. I had to call the bank again (on hold at least an hour each time) and clear it up again, then email the guy and tell him to try again. Finally, last night I got an email to say it went through. Yee-flippin-ha!

In the meantime, I'm still waiting for vital statistics to get back to me with certified adoption records. They don't exist at this point, apparently, aside from the uncertified copies we have. Once the adoption is finalized, the new birth certificates are issued with our names as their parents and it's all over. If two of our kids weren't born 7 months apart it wouldn't have been an issue, because the birth certificates are all legit. But they queried that little fact, and now I'm out a few hundred dollars while vital statistics prints up some kind of official stuff. Sigh.

Aww Kerri......sounds like a nightmare! Hope you get it all sorted soon xx

Well, I emailed NZIS [skilledmigrantslondon@dol.govt.nz], on Friday. Seems we will automatically be assigned an alternative CO......in a few days! Sent all the original docs and passports last Friday too, delivered yesterday morning.

Got a day off today and can't tear myself away from the bloomin' computer! I know it's only been a short while since they received all the info but I just had to email them again! Looks like applications will be assigned 'within the next week'..........

Feel like I'm going slightly mad!

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrgggghh! :uhoh:exit
