Hi,
Having now been here 5 months, and struggling to get work due to school etc and my wife working 4 shifts at Chch Womens Hospital, I was wondering if there were any electricians that would be interested in letting me help them out for a few hours as and when I could???

I am a qualified sparky and my qualifications have been assessed as ok by EWRB, but I have not worked as a sparky for a long time and need to get some experience/knowledge under my belt before I could begin to think about the practical test etc to obtain my registration

I am living at Swannanoa, but would be willing to travel.

If anyone is interested, please PM me or reply to this post

Thanks
Nick

You could contact Nick Chandler who trains electricians from UK to pass exams etc in NZ. He was very helpful to me and gave me lots of info and advice. He may be able to put you in touch with the right people

Hi,
thanks for the replies so far. I have met Nick and done one of his courses a few years ago when we were supposed to come before my wife was ill. I am really looking for some experience working with a sparky and seeing if I can actually hack it after so long out of the game.
Thanks again for the advice though
Cheers

Hi Nick, I will join Napier on 15 December. Is it difficult to find a job as industrial/domestic electrician over there?

Hi Peter.

Contact me when you get to Napier. I'll PM you contact details.:nice1

I assume you've had your qualifications assessed by the EWRB and you can get a provisional practising licence?

You're arriving near to Xmas and nothing will happen until the New Year.

As you might know, NZ shuts down over the Xmas period.

No worries, you should be OK.

Nick.:cheers
