Does anybody out there have any experience and advice with NZ customs clearance......I have received a quote for shipping of £2200 which I think is too good to miss, however.....I will have to load the container myself (no problem.....done it before) but I will have to arrange collection from the port near Dunedin and sort out customs???

Have you had quotes for the full packing, door-to-door service? If you haven't then maybe you should see what others are quoting. It's only that my 20ft container currently on the high seas was £2460 all in, so only £260 more, no packing or worries about customs and other paperwork.

Colin, I agree - we paid £2,600 all in - including insurance etc. We had everything packed & unpacked - having dealt with Customs in various countries in various jobs I've done over the last 15 years I can say they're a lore unto themselves & I personally would avoid having to deal with them.

We used PSS - tip for anyone using a shipping company - do not pay what they quote you - play them all off each other - we said  that we'd had a lower quote from elsewhere to our lowest quote & then they all started going lower until we got a few hundred quid off the original quote - worth doing!!!

I have been quoted £3,500 door to door 20ft sealed container with them doing all the packing and crating our Harley up not bad I thought as my friend has just imported a Caddillac from Florida and the total cost including shipping and taxes was £2.750 so 3.5g to NZ seems very good value
