Hi,
we're at the first stages of looking to emigrate to NZ.
I’m hoping to get a job as an IT Network Administrator/Manager.
Along with 6 years experience as a Network Administrator I have an HNC in Applied Information Technology, so my question is has anyone had an "HNC in Applied Information Technology" accepted by the NZQA.
Obviously acceptance is crucial if I wish to make an EOI application,
thanks,
Dave.

i'd check the list of recognized qualifications.

Your best bet is to visit, get job offer, get work permit, then put in EOI after one day of work. HNCs aren't worth a whole bunch, points-wise, I'm afraid. :(

Thanks for the response. I have had a look at the list of recognized qualifications and the "HNC in Computing" is listed as being worth 50 points, so I'll probably have to apply to the NZQA to verify my qualification through them. So that gives me one possible route, thanks also for the suggestion of going to NZ and getting a job offer then a work permit, after looking through the previous posts this seems like a tried and trusted method of getting to NZ.

Dave,
Are you sure? I'm just asking as I would have done one of these part time if that was the case! I was advised that the 50 points was for HND.
If you have a link I would be more than appreciated if you could post it, I would get studying ASAP then.
Thanks
John

From the list of registered qualifications posted above:-
The following Higher National Certificates and/or Higher National Diplomas awarded by BTEC are assessed as occupying Level 5 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

Thanks Ian,
Only take a couple of months to do a HNC, think I may sign up for one via OU in Feb then.
Extar Points on the GF application I may think

HNC is usally one year full time (or the part time equivalent and the OU don't do any HNC or HNDs (I used to be in Credit Tranfer at the OU)
