Hi all,

I am a new user of this group. I found the discussions in this group very helpful and handy. Infact some of my doubts have been cleared just by going through the post. I have also realised that there are many who sail in a similar boat as mine...uncertainity abt the migrant situation. And that is quite reassuring!! :D

I have started filling up my EOI but I am uncertain about the work experience part. I have done Masters in Commerce (Bus. Mgmnt) and have a one year Diploma in Human Resource Management. I hv around 8 yrs experience in ofice and HR administration. At present, I am working as an HR Executive in India. I hv completed my MCom degree in April 2004. Will my work experience be counted as "relevant" for the purpose of the EOI??
also i hv tried applying for jobs in NZ online but as most of u hv experienced..they need a 'valid work visa' wht do u think will be my plight??? will I be able to migrate to NZ or no??
will be grateful to receive any advice/ suggestions..

Hi Serena,

Welcome to the forum!

For the work experience part, may I refer you to the NZIS operations manual at: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/nzis/operations_manual/6380.htm

In brief, work experience would be considered relevant to your qualifications if the qualifications played a part in you getting that job in the first place.

However, it also says that work experience that qualifies for points must be in a comparable labour market as NZ or in an MNC. Unfortunately, India is NOT listed in that list of countries, sorry to say :no .

However, you may still get points for your qualifications which may require assessment by NZQA.

As for migration, as long as you get a points score of 100 or more, you have a chance of getting a Residence Visa through the Skilled Migration route. If you can't obtain enough points, then you might want to consider other routes to migration.

All the best in your endeavour.

thanx art..it is discouraging to know that my experience in the field of HR may not be counted for claiming points and unless I have a NZ job offer..I don't see any other way of increasing my points. :( U have mentioned abt other ways of coming to NZ...what are those? As far as I know, the other is the business category wherein I hv no experience...is there any other way..I hv no immediate family in NZ..so that way is also ruled out.
