Hi,
My husband is an experienced construction site manager/site foreman here in Ireland. We are arriving in Christchurch at the start of January and have started to become concerned about the drop off in suitable job ads over the past month or two. Prior to that he has had lots of positive feedback from agencies about being able to find him work with his level of experience.
Have any of you first hand experience of working in the construction industry and how it is going? Is it slowing a little or crashing like here? Is it expected to pick up now that the election is over or after christmas or at all????
Any informed views would really help as we are obviously getting nervous about the prospect of arriving with 4 young children and not being able to find work pretty quickly.
