Anyone else going to Taupo for the A1 GP in January? Just got our tickets. Team New Zealand are putting up a good show, with teams GB and USA languishing in mid-table respectability.

Haven't been to Taupo Motorsport Park - how easy is it to get to, get in and get out again?

I may have to now mate :) i nearly went this year but decided i couldn't afford both that and Hamilton 400. The 400 won :)

I just noticed it takes 4 hours to drive there from Auckland, even though it's just down the road *blink

The easiest way to find the circuit(for me!!), was to come into Taupo on either Highway 1 or 5, you drop down a hill, over a river(all main road) and then the 1st roundabout you come to, which is just on the edge of town, take the 1st exit or turn left onto Spa Road. And then basically keep going straight. You go past Taupo river bungee(on your left) and the conference centre(right), the road turns into Centenninal Drive, keep going another 2 miles or so. Then T junction left and the circuit is on your left, you can see it from the road. Turn left again, Main Entrance.

Bear in mind, I did this a few weeks ago, midweek, 1 team testing and no traffic. I'm afraid I dont know what its like race weekends.

it isn't bad at all and will be signposted before you get to Taupo.

Went this year with my lad, it was a good event. Very dusty though, but they working on reducing the dust.

So, easy to find, free parking facing the venue and an easy walk.

Have a great time, sure you will.

Free parking *swoon!

I remember the parking nightmare that was Silverstone before the improvements!

yup, free parking right facing the entry gates!!!

We were in the grandstand, but the paddock area up the side looked pretty good too. They are allowing picnics on there this year apparently... sure you'll enjoy it and the engines are Ferrari's this year too.
