Hi all,
Received email from case officer this afternoon asking when it's convenient to arrange for telephone interview. Also it seems she would like me to provide proof of " Dependancy " for two of my daughters. Rebecca is 20 and at university, but I pay for accomodation as she's doing a masters in nursing funded through the NHS and Elizabeth who is 16yrs old, she is in full time education and in the lower 6th form at school. It was suggested by my case officer that I could submit proof of course fee's as proof but as I don't pay any, I can't see how I can !!!!!!
Has anyone any idea as to what else I can submit as proof other than course fee's. Any info would really be appreciated ASAP as I really would like to get an email back to NZIS tomorrow to keep the momentum going.
TIA :nice1

Hi John,
I'm very interested in how you get on with NZIS on this point as I'm in exactly the same situation. I've literally just spent tonight going through my papers trying to prove my two pet parasites are dependant! I've copied such things as:
credit card statements showing expenditure on behalf of "kids"
car insurance policies showing them as named drivers on our policies
professional student memberships
Don't know what else I can send them. Maybe evidence they're on the electoral roll? Also considering sending them the phone bill :laugh and my photo itself should prove I'm being bled dry!
Your 16yr old should be a breeze though. Do you get Family Allowance? Whoops, showing my age....Child Benefit?

Hi John,
Do you write cheques to support your daughters? Maybe you could ask the bank to write a letter to confirm cheques that you've written on a regular basis and who they were were payable to.
Hope you think of something :hopeso

Yep, I write many a cheque. I have daughters. :laugh
Like the thing about child benefit but, its all done electronically now, there is no payment book, it just goes straight into an account with no specific ref: to any child who its payable for !
Any other suggestions
Have thought about contacting the school / University for some formal notification on the fulltime education bit but it would take time. I really would like to get back to NZIS ASAP.

John - what order do things HAVE to be done in here? Must the interview wait until all final papers are in to CO?
That is, can you perhaps ask your CO whether you can go ahead and schedule the interview while you get the school letters underway (perhaps by phoning the school and explaining it's high priority and you'll help them by picking the letters up from school office, etc., etc.). Maybe you could also offer to fax/send her the kinds of supporting evidence others have suggested in reply to you.
And while you're in contact with CO, does she have any ideas about what evdience she'll accept given the fees situation you outlined in your first post?
Final thought: what about witnessed/notarized letters written by your daughters atesting to the state of play? Might they help?
Cheers,
Matt.

Does the child benefit credit not state where the payment is issued from? The irony is your CO is probably British and will KNOW that you get CB for a 16yr old!
What about copy bank statements showing transfers from your accounts to theirs, as well as copy cheque counterfoils for payments to third parties?
A copy of your 20yr old's bank statements showing no salary? And her student membership card?
16yr olds latest school report confirming full time education, or bus pass or some sort of proof of education? School library ticket?
Medical cards showing same address as you. Would prove main residence at least.
Won't NZIS search against their Nat Ins numbers so they can see they're not receiving a salary?

Hi Matt
Yes, I can go ahead with the interview without having the paperwork for two of my daughters in place.
Really, I am looking for a quick solution to the "Proof" bit as I don't want to stop this ride right now. Hope you know what I mean. I know I can supply the proof NZIS require, it's just not in the timeframe I would like to present it in. :wah
Yep, getting a little impatient/excited :yes

Frustrating isn't it. :? Having to provide those last bits of proof right at the last minute. Know how you are feeling, I am waiting on my ex going to his solicitor to sign a letter. I know I can not hurry him, but every day seems like a day tooo long. I am not a very patient person. Looking at other threads, I will have to learn to chill more.
Just hang on in there and I am sure you will be able to get all the documentation you need. I am sure a quick phone call to your daughters school/university will get you the letters you need quite quickly. I am suprised they asked about the 16 year old, I thought 17 is the cut off age.
Good luck :hopeso

I don't know how it is with schools in the UK, but I had to get a letter from a school here with info about a study hubby did some years ago, the school had merged and had a name change.
I called them up, told them about it, asked them what they could do for me and they made up a letter in english and we got it the next day?
Would schools in the UK not be able to do this, maybe not as fast as I got this done, but pretty fast is ok too perhaps?

This is very interesting. My teenage daughter does not live with me, but I do support her financially, but it's extremely difficult to prove this. Looks like I'm going to have problems with this one...
I give her cash, buy her shopping (regularly) have paid for all the medicals etc., pay for holidays, her pets, including vets bills. Although she does not live under the same roof as me, she is definitely financially dependent still. I did pay the deposit on her flat. I wonder would all that count??? :uhoh She is seriously considering moving back in with us as it's costing me more her living out than in :P :P
I'm interested to know how everyone gets on with this.

Any news John?
Been wondering how you've gone on and whether your CO had any tips or suggestions? I'm posting my ITA tomorrow so will see if they want anything further from me.
