Built in Robe

We have to decide whether to bring over our wardrobes. How common are built in robes? I found an old topic which was 50/50 on the matter.

We only have one decent wardrobe (huge IKEA thing) and would need to disassemble it. The others are crap and will leave behind I think.

All houses I have been viewed got built-in wardrobe, I have not seen one without...you can see how many wardrobe end up in trademe!!!! even rental house we stayed got built-in wardrobes but not enough. Bring good one just in case...

We needed wardrobes when we got here and have found there is a very small supply of them over here. Either Freedom Furniture or Trade Me is where you'll get the best idea of what is on offer.

We didn't have to dismantle our wardrobe for shipping, they just filled it with other stuff, like duvets and cushions etc. So it didn't impact on the container space much.

Perhaps have a quick look at the properties online in the area you are heading to. Many will state if they have built in wardrobes and others you can just tell from the photos.

Also a lot of the built in ones we have seen have been pretty poor and quite damp, but we live in an area of heritage protected villas.....

Cheers

Our place only has one built in wardrobe which is nowhere near big enough for OH's clothing collection.

We were therefore very happy with our decision to bring our wardrobe.

OH's clothing collection however still doesn't fit so we've got lots on rails in the loft! :)

We do, however, live in the same area as Tia above and things are probably different if you go somewhere with newer houses!

Both our rental and the house we've just bought have loads of huge built in wardrobes ...

I think I'd be tempted to ship the one big one if you have room in the container, as you can always stick it on trademe once here, and you are certain it's not going to be required.

We shipped our big one cos we had space and even though we have built wardrobes in every room we (I) still don't have enough room for clothes :o However, our massive wardrobe lives in the garage cos too big for the house but ideal for storing coats and shoes :yes So although maybe not necessary I suppose I'd bring in just in case...
