Hello,

I was expecting a decision to my ITA last month but unfortuanetly the CO has still doubt towards my military service. I did my compulsory military service in Iraq in 2002 for 3 months only as I paid the military levy. (Service without levy last for 18 months). After 2003 the military service becomes optional

It is really frustrating since my deployment within the military service were belong to a previous government. The current government does not prove these things this time.

How can I deal with this matter ? Looking forward to have your advise.

Regards,

Ali Ismail

Hi Ali

That seems really tough. Can you find any documentation to confirm that service was compulsory? Could you try any of the charities like Amnesty International?

Hope you get it sorted.

Hi Ali,

I guess if you can get a supporting letter or something like that from the current government stating that the service was compulsory under previous govt then you might be able to convince the officer.

Having said that the officers at IPG are very tough compared to those at other branches and sometimes very difficult to convince them since my residence application is also being processed there.

I hope you will get this sorted quickly.

Regards,
Mr.P

Hi,

They should know that military service before 2003 was compulsory, don't they ?

Moreover, I paid the military levy at that time (monetary payment) so did not have a real service. I was an infantry deployment soldier.

Thanks for your feedback, I will check and let you know.
