Blimey this is stressful.

So we get approved in principle on Tuesday and have now sent off our migrant levy payment and witing for our blue stickers on the basis of wifes job offer in Tauranga in recruitment.

Two days later, the company offering the job are now saying the agreed start date of 6th january isnt definite anymore because of the economic crisis, 'can we wait back in the uk for a while?' 'while the things settle after the elections', they hope to still start her on the 6th jan, but could now be feb or march, they cant say yet. Might be never for all we know.

We cant really wait here, we have both left work now and will be spending our savings and wasting money, we intended to book our flights this weekend for 15th december.

:exitWhat to do now? Do we just go and hope that things pick up by jan/feb? they have assured us they still really want her. We have another job offer in Tauranga but our initial eoi was turnt down on that job offer as NZIS didnt think they have traded long enough.

She also has a job offer in Wellington with a company that NZIS would definitley be happy with, but we dont want to live in Wellington.

nightmare

We are in a recession here so what job prospects are there for you both? You got to be in it to win it i suppose is the answer!!!!
I suppose my question is what is your gut feeling?

Whatever you decide it will be the right decision for you........good luck with whatever that decision is :nice1

think we will still just go for it and see what happens.

put the wellington offer off for a few weeks in case tauranga job doesent work out when we arrive, and if we have to head off to wellington

My advice would be to seriously reconsider Wellington. People who live here are very passionate about being Wellingtonians for good reason...it is a city without being in any way too big. The setting is fantastic, the outdoor lifestyle as good as and the wind which puts most people off is overrated. There are microclimates all over which can reduce the effect of the wind anyway and if you choose a house with some knowledge of this you can be very comfortable.

If it means anything we discounted the idea of living in Wellington even having visited it on perfect days...and now having ended up living here we haven't looked back.

Good luck with however it pans out.

Hiya

Another vote for Welly - it is a great place - don't be put off by the climate - we've travelled all around NZ - I know it's a personal choice but Welly beat the other places hands down for us - it has a great mix of everything as is a very friendly place to live

good luck with it all - hope it all works out well for you - Rubyx

You only need to stay in the job for 3 months. If you really wanted to leave Wellington after that date, you would be free to do so.
