One from the department of internal affairs saying our kids' NZ citizenship by descent (through me) has been processed and will be couriered back to us as soon as possible.
And the other one from the NZ embassy in Ottawa saying my husband's work permit has been approved! They want flight details (which we don't have yet) and will then return everything to us. That's very exciting and took so much work and expense to complete from our end. I guess I have to book flights now. Very scary. Very.
Hooray! I'm very very excited right now. It's really happening.

Excellent!
Time may be on your side after all :)
May I ask why you didn't do the citizenship and passport application in one go? Did they not give you the option?
In any case, good luck with the rest,
Daniela

AND, I just charged one-way airfare for 6 to my Mastercard. I feel like puking. Seriously. We're leaving from Vancouver on January 29th 2009. Yikes.
I would have rather sent the citizenships and work permit stuff together, but the visa application for my husband was done through the Ottawa embassy. The kids' NZ citizenships have to be processed in NZ. If I could have sent my husband's application to NZ the exchange rate would have saved us about $70. Alas, we couldn't do that. But I think Ottawa was very fast too. About 3 weeks once I got the paperwork all done and sent in.
