We're looking at some temp accommodation in Kohimarama for a few weeks when we first come over.

What's the drive like from there to Ponsonby? What about public transport?During peak hour.

I take it the area is quite nice.

Kohi is a lovely area. Beaches to choose from, good schools, some great cafes and shops in the nearby communities of Mission Bay and St. Heliers. Also a New World close at hand, and a pak n spend not too far away in Glen Innes.

As to getting to Ponsonby, I commute from the Kohi/Orakei area to Kingsland which is not that far from Ponsonby. Its not that bad a commute by car, and I have on occassion taken the train or bus from Kingsland into the city and then got a bus from the Britomart station to the Orakei/Kohi area. Lots of bus options. The train doesnt really go to Ponsonby. The drive is probably about 20 minutes.

It's about the worst traffic you will see in Auckland but it's still only a 20 Min drive! Bus can be quicker as it has a dedicated lane along the sea front.

As mentioned above, Mission bay, Kohi and St Heliers are great places to live and an easy commute.
