Specsavers coming to NZ

Good News again (after M&S delivering to NZ) i took my son to specsavers today and they told me, that they are going to open stores in NZ !!!

The Westfield Queensgate in Lower Hutt has an empty unit with a 'Specsavers' sign up.

Actually there are already two stores open in Auckland see Specsaver stores (http://www.specsavers.co.nz/stores/), and according to this, the one in Lower Hutt has also just opened.

Yes they are already here. I worked for Specsavers for 10 years in the UK and they have been looking at the NZ market for quite a while. They already have anumber of stores in OZ.....

Interesting, there isn't one in Christchurch yet according to their website?
Is it a genuine SpecSavers and is it open yet?

They had an advert in the ChCh Press today. They have taken over an existing optician.

No wonder your running Tim.
Have to admit though after speaking with an optician a year or so ago, i won't be returning to Specsavers in a hurry. He gave me a true insight to them. He had done a stint with them back home.

Guessing there's some history there... I've been watching this thread with interest, remembering how my parents both had to have their eyetests redone and new glasses made after visiting Specsavers.

interested in the comment about not returning to specsavers?
I had my eyes tested elsewhere but bought my glasses from specsavers and i was convinced that they got the prescription wrong!

I gave up on Specsavers after having to take back glasses a few times as they got the prescription wrong.
