I had real trouble last year finding proper marzipan to ice my christmas cake with, but New World did eventually get some in stock about a week before Christmas.

Just to let you know that they've got it in stock NOW, so plenty of time, and they've also got it on special for $6.99 (200g).

Thanks for the tip Milliemoo.

I'm also looking for chestnut puree for my chestnut stuffing - anyone found any?

Well done to all of you for making your Christmas cakes. Although I do bake cakes, I have never done an xmas one. Maybe I should try one year:o

Sorry, I'm confused... why on earth would you need marzipan to finish your Christmas cake? The correct an' proper way to 'ave Christmas caake is un-iced accompanied by cheeeese (preferably Wenselydale). ;)

Happy baking everyone!

I'm making xmas cake for the 1st time this year, got all the ingredients yesterday (now DP thinks they are expensive as the grocery shop came to £30 with the ingredients as well as our basics)

Does any body have any helpful tips?

Whats all this about cheese with xmas cake, i've only ever seen it eaten with xmas pudding!

Oh, good cheese with any dark fruitcake is lovely! (We used to have a cat that loved both.)
