I thought I read that police checks have to be the originals.
The bottom of my tips letter says:
If you are providing originals rather than certified copies, please provide a photocopy behind each item. This does not include the application form or medical certificates - these must be the original documents.
Personally I would put in the original, don't give them any reason to slow down your application!

It took me ages to get original from UK as I reside elsewhere. Don't want to loose original as I would need it for other things as well.
Few guys in this forum mentioned they submitted notorised copies including police certificate.
Can anyone confirm this again who himself submitted notorised copy of it?

Police and medical certificates are the only documents that MUST be originals. All others can be certified copies.

Yes, what Beanbeanz says. No choice in this matter, I am afraid. The other original document you will have to provide at some point is your passport, but that's the exciting part!

It should no longer take ages to get a police certificate from the UK, see ACPO police certificates (http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp) for details, you can even pay a premium to get them in 2 working days and pay for as many additional copies as you require.
BTW, I believe that notorised copies may be acceptable from certain countries e.g. China, but (AFAIK) for the UK you do need to submit the original.
