Am not going to cover the last 3 years otherwise i would be here all night, except to say the last 3 years have been a struggle but we are in this for the long run that is for sure....we think.

The last 5 months have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride to a degree, what with us eventually having something to call our home. We moved in to our new build which we had built in June, and then 2 months later we were hit with first, my Heart attack, and then Elaine's Angina, and diabetic issues. On top of that Elaine has been under the threat of redundancies within her work place for the last 12 months, but has managed to survive, and all we ask is that they let her finish the WTR visa, let us get that elusive residency, and then they can do what they like. No wonder our have been twitching a little.

Eldest is in her exam's now so we don't really need anymore distraction's that's for sure. I am getting itchy feet to get back on the road in the 44 tonners, and hopefully earn more so we can survive in this crazy world we live in. We have had one or two discussions about selling up and shipping out before it's too late, but we know that deep down we would be wanting to return 6 months after returning, so it's a case of push on and hope that the tide turns for us eventually.

Overall things have worked for us in the last 3 years, but i just wished we had done things a little different, but i suppose you learn from your mistakes in life.

To finish i would say that we feel in the overall scheme of things this move was right for us all, however we will never shut the door on a return.

How well put... thats really how I feel at this stage (15mths in). Hope eldest does OK, a great driving job turns up, and all your health worries are over really soon. Thanks for being so brutally (I hope you don't mind me using that word) honest.

Considering what you guys have been through recently no one would blame you if you did run for the hills, nice to hear you are sticking around for the time being. :)

Hopefully the new year will see the end of your 'challenges' :yes

Congrats Kim and Elaine:cheers

We know you have struggled at times (nobody said it was going to be easy!), but you now have what you want, just hope the work front stays good so you can get that visa, that must be a worry too.

Having been back recently, we know we made the right decision coming here. OK, family being there is difficult, but it is for our families that we made the decision to move. Our kids are reaping the rewards of being away from the old environment we used to live in.

Hopefully your health can be stable now, and you can settle properly. You know where we are, the kettle still works :laugh:laugh

Great post - Can I be nosy and ask what you wish you would have approached differently.

Also it might benefit others in some way

Thanks

Great post Kim. Very open, honest and to the point - no dancing around the issues. Hope you get that elusive Visa very very soon and that all settles down for you in the not too distant future. You know where we are if you need us, just give us a shout. :nice1
