Question for all the Canadians out there... did you get your RCMP report done by providing electronic fingerprints? Did it really only take 72 hours for you to get your results back? How much did it cost to get fingerprinted?

Reason I'm asking is, I was asked to submit a new police report for my ITA, but seeing how I'm in Christchurch the RCMP only accepts paper fingerprints, which according to them takes at least 120 days to process. I actually got my fingerprints taken at the watch house here in chch, but haven't sent them off because I've just decided to make this Christmas a white one and go home for a bit - so I could get my police report done while I'm back in Canada. Just need to know if it really is as easy as getting them taken electronically and that I'll receive them in a few days before I have to head back here.

I went into the RCMP station in Victoria, paid my $50. (this was in 2006) and waited 10 minutes until the officer came back with my police clearance paper. Don't want to give you too much cause for optimism but unless things have changed a lot, it could be pretty fast. I did this while I was on a trip back to Canada, as I was advised by a friend here that if I submitted my request from NZ it would take 6 months.

Had mine done electronically in Winnipeg in July and it cost $47.25. I received the results in the mail 6 days later.

We went into the RCMP detachment last month, paid $30 each and walked out with them in 10 minutes. No fingerprints, and my husband's work permit was just approved.

I had my electronic prints submitted to RCMP central offices from Calgary, cost me 75$ (including fingerprinting and RCMP fees) and I got my report in the mail about 10 days later.

Hmm..well good to know that it doesn't seem to take too long to get them. I just bought my ticket to Toronto yesterday (at $4000!!) so I'll get everything sorted while I'm there and hopefully on my return my case office will be waiting to welcome me with a blue sticker.
