As you all know we have had a VERY wobbly start here in NZ but are determined not to give up.......well it is starting to pay off :P

First bit of good news, Jon got a pay rise :clap , just a small one, but better than nothing :yes

The most exciting news is that we have managed to get on the property market :P :P :P :P

We have done it the only way we can, which is buying a plot of land, which is only one minute away from one of my favourite locations, and we are getting a small, house put on it. It is a house and land package, an extremely basic house, but the plot is 930 so big enough for us.

Incase anyone one is curious about the price, which I would have been  the cost of it is fixed which totals $195 000, but $6 000 of that is for extra bits we might want, so that could be made smaller

We signed the contract today, everything is subject to finances etc but we can't see any probs
:hopeso

Finally feel things are looking up for us ;) Esp now that a pak'n'save has opened up in Hornby :nice1 we are budgeting alot better.

Thanks guys :cheers

Land is in Doyleston, about a minute away from Leeston.

And will definetaly keep you all posted on how we get on. See if the deal is good as it sounds ;)

We have timed it so that the building work starts in August, so will be ready for when our tenancy ends here in Dec (as you all know we are stuck in a fixed tenancy)

We pay 5% deposit when they start the work, then you pay the rest when it is completed......hence no worries about rent money AND a mortgage :nice1

Hey Jo, how about starting a diary from when you start negotiations etc
in the Real Estate area - lots of people are interested in doing exactly what you have done and you'd be the first on the forum to do it!!

How exciting for you!! Can you specify all the colours/carpets/kitchen stuff etc? Is it Golden Homes or Murray? Or who?
