medical questions

Hi all

I am hoping that someone will talk me through the medicals process. My brain is on holiday today:o. I have questions about when and how things happen, so I will just list my queries and please feel free to add any extra info and personal experiences.

How long did/does it take to get an appointment?

X-rays...are they done on site? If not does the Dr send you down the road to a convenient Hospital or do you have to arrange your own?

If you have to arrange your own how do you do this?

Can we go in as a family (2 adults 2 children) or do us adults have to go in seperately.

Children over 11yrs need an x-ray but do they need bloods?

If you thought you needed extra bloods and fasted just incase, did you get your extra bloods done then and there or not?

Thats all I can think of for now, sorry if I have asked things that have been explained before. :uhoh

Cheers

I phone up on a Wednesday, had an appointment on the Friday

I had them done on site, but there are oher places where they send you down the road. I think that in most of those cases they arrange the appointment for you.

Whichever you prefer, people have done both. Of course you may have to wait a bit longer if you have to make one long appointment instead of several shorter ones

Can't help you with the other questions as they didn't apply to me, but it won't be long before someone else comes along

Yes you can but you need to fast from 10pm the night before so make sure you have a morning appointment.

Only kids over 15 & over need bloods, our daughter was 14 when we went for the medicals but doctor thought she might have to return for bloods as it was close to her birthday, but luckily we got the visas before her birthday.

I agree with the other forumites on the rest of the questions

Our medical appointment took about 4 weeks, they all seemed to be busy, but normally a lot quicker.

x-rays were done on site as was the taking of the blood for the blood tests.

You go to the appointment together, but you may see the relevant people separately.

If you have fasted, then yes the extra blood tests can be done straight away.

Whilst it is not normally required for children under 15 to have blood tests, the doctor can request them if indicated by medical questions e.g. if the child has had a blood transfusion etc.

A big thankyou to everyone for putting my mind at rest :nice1

This was a bunch of questions which were floating round my head but because I have a migraine today I couldn't seem to get to grips with them.

Thanks again.
