Sent in my application 2 days ago, and the website now gives me the following info:

"Thank you for your application for residence. You will shortly receive an acknowledgement letter with information on next steps"

Can anyone confirm what the letter says on the 'next steps'?

Thanks
Billy

Sounds good.

I sent mine in without the NZQA assessment, which is stuck in the timewarp between here and NZ, so I hope they can still get things done in the meantime.

If our experience is anything to go by, things happen very quickly from here on in.

A day after the web said application received we had the email arranging the interview, next day the interview itself.
The letter confirming PR came in the same post as the letter confirming receipt of application!

What feels like the end though is really only the beginning.

Good luck :hopeso

Good question Marie,
Not entirely sure but would think as soon as migrant levy is paid if not included in ITA already with passports enclosed.
Mind you saying that, I think you have got around 4 / 6 months to pay levy once granted visas. I guess in that case they would return doc's as soon as decision is made.

Good question, I think it must be until they send the passports back with the stamps in them. We sent our ITA in without passports as I needed mine for a trip. We did include a return envelope prepaid for Royal Mail special delivery, but as yet nothing has come back (a month since pr approved) We sent off the passports on last Monday, so I'm hoping everything comes back at once.

It all sounds very promising.

Luckily, I have a friend whose wife is a lawyer, so I sent in certified copies; that is a big weight off the mind retaing all your essentials.

Billy, this is what my letter said:
Dear Mr :P ,

APPLICATION FOR A RESIDENCE VISA, INCLUDING:

John :P DOB:
Debra :P DOB:
Jack :P DOB:
Joseph :P DOB:
We are writing with regard to your application for a residence visa which was accepted for

consideration on 11 March, 2005. The receipt for your application fee is attached. Your application is being considered under the Skilled Migrant Category.

You will now see that you have been allocated an application number at the top right of this letter. Please now use this application number on all correspondence rather than your previous EOI number.

Your application is currently being managed by our queue manager and is awaiting allocation to a visa officer for assessment. If you have any urgent queries regarding your application please contact our queue manager on skilledmigrantslondon@dol.govt.nz. Please ensure that you quote your application number on all correspondence.

A case officer will be allocated to your case within the next month and we hope to make a final decision on your case in the next two to four months. We strongly advise you not to make any irreversible travel plans to New Zealand until the outcome of your application is determined. Applications will not be prioritised according to travel plans unless you are able to provide evidence that your circumstances are exceptional.

Changes to your details

The Immigration Act 1987 requires you to advise NZIS of any changes in your circumstances that may affect your application, for example;
1. A change of marital status
2. Any legal liabilities or disqualifications that you receive
3. Changes to your qualifications or professional licences

If you do not advise us of such changes, it may affect the outcome of this application and any future applications you make to the NZIS. It is most important that you keep us up to date with any change to your personal circumstances or contact details.

Yours sincerely

:P

Thanks for that.

I was allocated a case officer when they sent out the ITA. Not sure why they have different processes, but I guess it all adds up to the same thing.
