Interview was brought forward from friday to today.
All questions as previously stated on other threads were asked and were answered in the way I thought best.
At the end I was asked if I had any questions. I asked " what happens now " and " How long before I know anything." I was told that there are 3 options open to me:
1) Decline application
2) Approve application - Work to Residence visa
3) " " - Residence Visa
CO then said " Option 1, it's not an option, you'll be hearing the good news officially in around 2 weeks once it's been re-checked by someone else. Congratulations. "
Bl**dy H*ll, we're in
We're over the moon
Thanks everyone for your help, guidence and assistence in this long process. We'll hopefully be seeing some of you on the other side. :P
I'm gonna have a little drink tonight

Wow, what great news!! Fantastic going, and can't wait to hear from you on other progess. Did you originally apply for PR and they offered a work visa instead, or did you go straight in trying for a work visa? Sorry if I missed that, there are so many great stories to keep up with! This thing is addictive, and I can't wait to open the day's chapter of "The Forum".
Congrats again!

Hi SoCal Gal
I asked what the difference was between Work to Residence and Residence. I was told basically that if I am granted work to residence visa rather than residence, the main difference being that once I've found work and and can prove employment without a break for 3 months I can get myself off to immigration and they will change visas to residence.
Good Eh !

Well done Bubbles, now when they send you the letter saying they have given you PR in principle, you must reply to it.
I did not and only found out today, one whole month later that I was supposed to reply to say that I wanted them to issue the Visas.
Congratulations!

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question. Does anyone out there know the criteria NZIS use to determine if one receive a Work to residence Visa or a PR visa?
Thanks in advance because from what I gather from everyone who had interviews(including myself) recently were told either you get WTR or PR.
Regards.

Congratulations John! :nice1
A couple of points:
1. You only need to reply to the letter if you have already sent the passport off (I assume). You have 4 months from receiving conditional PR to get the passports stamped, then the year kicks in.
2. Vincent, so far everyone seems to have got PR at the first bite, so that seems to be a "policy" at the moment.

Hey Mark - are you sure? I was given 6 months from the date PR was approved, in that time I had to pay the migrant levy. Then, once that was paid I was given a further 12 months before the 'stamp' expired.

Hi Diny,
Just checked the letter and you are right, it is 6 months!! Things are in a bit of a lull at the moment while we wait for a buyer on the house, my brain's obviously in a lull too!

Thankyou all,
I'm glad that's cleared up. I wasn't sure if it was 3, 4 or 6 months to pay the levy. Got to get it right for Molly Ann ( Daughter no. 3 ) So we can get her GCSE's done over here before we go. :yes
Thanks again for all the good wishes. I'll be there when it's your turn.

I am a little late here but are you supposed to reply to an approval in principle?
Malaysia is one of the weird countries where police checks are done by NZIS and not by us as applicants. So the letter from NZIS for us was approved in principle subject to getting our police checks from Malaysia cleared.
Not sure what the implication is but was told not to submit our passports yet and wait for further instructions!
I was informed by the case officer, the WTR was issued if the case officer feels that you might need time to settle in NZ and that your situation is such that settling in is very dependent on getting a job. If the case officer feels that you are appear to be able to settle in quite well and that getting a job was not a problem, a PR is it then. In our case, in order to give us PR, she wanted to sight letters from recruiters and employers that they are keen on hiring me and that getting a job is not really a problem.
Cheers,
Shagen

Well, back in limbo.
The 2 weeks or so has gone by now which I was told should be how long before I get the official " NOD ". Additional info' required for proof of dependancy for my eldest daughters was received around the time of the interview but still no firm news. How long do you all think I should leave it before I make contact with perhaps a little prod or poke ?
Your thoughts please
TIA

Hi John
I am sure it will be OK. I reckon that the last few weeks must have been the busiest for ages for them because of the proposed medical change. On top of that Easter
fingers still crossed for you

John,
you were told 2 weeks at interview, and that has now elapsed. I guess it depends on your personal circumstances; if it is just the awful suspense of it all then I'd wait a little longer :wah
However, if you have a schedule which you want to keep going as far as possible, then I'd contact NZIS now. I'm sure you are more than capable of being subtle about it; it's not as if they will now turn around and say 'get lost!' just because you have the audacity to make contact! Your case officer has already said that 'option 1' wasn't an option.
Good Luck.
Cheers,
John (also in suspense)
PS just read that back to myself - not my most articulate post - hope it makes sense ?

2 weeks is plenty of time, drop them a e-mail to give them a prod, but word it like you're not, I did this, it was something like "I was wondering if there was anything else you needed from me, or anything I could help you with...."
Not too pushy, and reminds them who you are.
Good luck
