Is the allowance still the same for a long haul flight?
Does anyone know how much it is to pay extra for more luggage. I travel on the 12th January 2009 and I cannot manage on just one case of clothes etc. Any info on this one.
Travelling with Cathay Pacific from London to Hong Kong.

have a look on Cathay Pacifics website (as the allowances vary depending on the airline) it will have details of both the allowances and the excess baggage charges and possible alternatives like Unaccompanied baggage.

It's down to the airline. For example, Air NZ allow 46 kilos each going westward via LA, but only 23 kilos each going eastward. You'll have to check the website or ring up for CP specifically.

We flew with Singapore Air and although their allowance was only 20kg per person because we had residency visa's (Unused) they allowed us to double it. Well worth checking with the airline. I telephoned SA first and they said that there was no difference in the baggage allowance but when I emailed the same question was told that it would be doubled so I kept a copy of the email with me when we flew - but it was not queried.
