Hi everyone,

when I was looking for a NZ job some months ago, I was quite stunned that in this forum, there seem to be so many highly qualified IT people about, but hardly any company takes the opportunity to get in contact with them.

So now that my new employer has acquired a major new project and has several short- to mid-term vacancies to fill, I have suggested to my manager to try this, and he was right on to it!

So here's a quick overview of the available positions:

JEE Solutions Architect:
Experienced, with experience in identity management and/or security

JEE Developers with Sun IdM experience:
Experienced in JEE development, identity management and/or security, and with Sun's identity management products

Java Developers:
Experienced in JEE development, JEE frameworks, and identity management and/or security

The company is Datacom, one of NZ's largest IT development companies. In Wellington alone we're about 200 Java and Microsoft developers.
My business unit (Java) is working on a big central eGovernment project around identity management, and has recently signed the contract for a second parallel project.

To clarify a term: identity management is mainly about access management, authentication/authorization, and user provisioning, so any significant experience in these areas or in-depth knowledge of related tools and standards (e.g. SAML) will be of interest.

Anyone interested please PM me or post in this thread.
I can give you more details on the requirements for the roles then.

As a general rule, you'll need to be able to make yourself available for a face-to-face interview in Wellington at some point, while my manager will be quite happy to do the first interview on the phone. If you're a real guru and perfect fit for one of the roles, he might offer a job after just a phone and skype interview, but don't count on this too much.

If you send me your CV, I'll be more than happy to check it for NZ format and whether any sections may need more elaboration for it to be interesting for my manager.

Datacom is an accredited employer, so with a job offer from them, getting a work visa for up to five years (!) is more or less a one-hour process at NZIS (at least it was for me), providing you have your police checks, medical, and proof of identity and qualification ready. If you wish, you can then apply for PR afterwards. Any questions on that, I'll be happy to help.

Another good thing is, since we have different parts of the projects starting development at different times over the next 6 months, we're probably more flexible in terms of commencement of work than other potential employers.

Cheers,
Jan

I'm interested in knowing a bit more about these roles. We should be arriving in Wellington in the beginning of 2009 and I'm actively looking for any Java opportunities there.

I've sent you a private message. Feel free to contact me.
