Hey someone’s been using my login, can you imagine my surprise when I decided to log in for the first since arriving in NZ to find that someone calling themselves Vicky and saying that their my OH posted a thread called “I Miss the UK”. At first I was really angry, then I thought, well it’s was partly my fault for having such an easy password “Invercargill” it was even on my signature and not keeping it to myself. (I think I know who it might have been). Perhaps someone was feeling like that but just could not say. Now they know (and other people that might be feeling like that), the amount of support there is on the Forum. So for the record I do not have another half or ever had called Vicky, (I’m single actually) and I don’t like quad bikes. NZ ironing boards are fab, and top loader washing machines are great for men, you can put stuff in after the things started, how great is that. Seriously I really do hope that “Vicky” is OK and has support to help her through a very difficult time. If she is in Invercargill she can always PM me or meet up a coffee sometime. I will be posting a 3 months in soon, as I am enjoying life in Southland. :)

That's awful. Why would anyone do that? I hope the person will be okay.

Good to hear that you are enjoying yourself though!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I am surprised you would be prepared to go for coffee with this person. Whoever "Vicky" is had no place claiming to be someone she wasn't and making use of your user name, as well as making statements about you without any knowledge of you, particularly as it gave an impression of you which might have no truth whatsoever . Dealbreaker.

I hope that my statements made in response to the post you refer to are beneficial to somebody.

I guess my benevolence goes with my job, where one tends to try and understand peoples actions and thoughts. However I did make me angry at first.

I thought it was strange when I just read your 3 month post and there was no mention of Vicky!

Oh, for heaven's sake... I remember that thread, which gave a totally false impression of your situation.

Whoever 'Vicky' is, I can't see any good reason for what she did. If she wanted company and suggestions on the threads, she could join under a username of her own. Latching onto someone else's ID and telling lies about them is not a friendly action.

That's just really weird! And I was just reading your 3 month in post and thinking that you were being a bit insensitive to your poor partner - ha ha - sorry!

That is just so bizarre.

I wonder if Vicky has an OH with a similar login (or name and thought you might be her OH's posting alias) and guessed your PW?
I just can't figure that someone would 'borrow' your login just for sympathy or make a sympathy post with malicious intent?

This does happen. We were waiting to use the internet in our hotel in Malta last year and the couple in front finished and had not logged off and we had access to their building society account. We closed it down immediately but if it had got into the wrong hands it could have proved a nightmare.
