Hi, Can any Americans tell me how long it took to get your ITAs? I've been trying to figure out if it is quicker than the UK or if it is just as long a process.

We've applied using only our degrees from recognized universities.
We're not claiming points for work experience. we've no job offers.

So unless we are mistaken about something or other...
Could it be that if we are selected we would get an ITA pretty quickly? Given that it wouldn't take them too long to check our degrees?

It would be great to hear about some american timelines.
Thanks

Hi there fellow American.

I can try to answer some of your questions.

First, may I ask how many points are you claiming? That seems to have an impact on how quickly a person becomes selected. But it seems NZIS have gotten down to the 110 point range these last few draws.

Also, have you been selected from the EOI pool? An applicant needs to be selected from the pool first. Once an EOI is selected, NZIS will do preliminary checks to confirm everything claimed on the EOI is accurate. This is where things get fuzzy. I have seen folks here get a Decision Successful within a month or so after an EOI was selected, EVEN without a job offer. But, my husband and I patiently waited for almost 3 months for our status to change to Decision Successful, even with my work being on the Absolute Shortage List, WITH a Master's. :uhoh Usually this process takes 2-4 months after an EOI is selected. Of course, a job offer will speed matters up.

But one fine morning, November 19th, I logged in as normal and our status changed to Decision Successful! Our ITA arrived November 28th, I think Thanksgiving held it up one day. While I was working out, I heard a truck pull up, peeked out the window, and there was the USPS guy coming with that lovely package. I had to sign for it. I think because we live the USA, the ITA takes a bit longer to get here, compared to the UK and other places. I could be wrong though.

Check out our time line. Hope this helps and good luck! :nice1

We had to sign for the ITA as well...and I couldn't stop smiling! I'm sure the postman thought I was mad!

We had some "issues" but check out the time line

Where in NY are you at? Most of my family (Aunts, Uncles, cousins) are still up there...

Oh.. and welcome & good luck!

hi Bodacious,
we are claiming only 105 points - just for our degrees and 10 points for having a qalification in a job shortage area. We could claim more for work experience - but I was worried that would take longer for them to confirm. So my strategy was to give them less to confirm in the hopes it would all be done faster.
Waiting three months wow that must have been hard! Hopefully it will all go smoothly for you from here on in.

And no we haven't been selected yet:o but that's not stopping me from already feeling impatient.

And Mrs. Pony we are in Park Slope Brooklyn - by way of British Columbia Canada. So happy to hear about your ITA!

You can see our time line below.

I think we went decision successful May 17th? Something like that. ITA arrived fairly quickly though they had the wrong address (despite us trying to change it with them) so it took us a week to get.

I submitted our EOI August 7th, got selected Aug 13th and finally a 'Decision successful' in early Oct 2008. Received ITA in Oct 2008 (approx 10 days later) and have to have it submitted by end Feb. We are in no mad rush so I will be submitting it by mid Jan 09.
Welcome and I hope this helps.
