Hi,

I was hoping to be able to submit my EOI today, but I am stuck on work experience part of EOI (I have already completed the rest).

I am applying as a Systems Analyst. Before that I worked as an Information Systems Specialist (networking and helpdek) at the same place part-time (20 hrs/week). When calculating my total years of "recognized work experience", can I count my job that was not a Systems Analyst?

I also thought that part-time experience is accepted as long as it is over 15 hrs/week and converted to fulltime equivalent, but I found this on one of the help menus from the EOI page.

"Questions 2 to 3
These questions ask you to tally the number of years of recognised work experience. Your work must be full-time work, that is, when you have worked an average of 30 hours per week or more."

Please help me what I can count and what I cannot count to get the total years of recognized work experience. Thanks.

Hey there,

I guess the way I am reading it you cannot count the Information Systems Specialist job. After I submitted my EOI, a person from the London Branch shot me an email about how many hours I work per week with both my jobs I have worked in my field. I claimed my work experience from 2003-2006 (previous job) and my current work experience 2006-now (both in same field). So, that counts 5 years TOTAL experience in my profession, both were/are 40 hour work weeks.

Hope this helps.

I am sure if I am wrong, someone will clarify matters. :)

Good luck! :nice1

Hey me again,

I just thought of something... you can claim Information Systems Specialist as work experience but perhaps not in the TOTAL years of work experience since it was part time. I hope this makes sense. LOL:o

Thanks. If it does not give me points, then there is no reason to include Information Systems Specialist job. I was hoping to be able to use this part-time job (covert it to fulltime equivalent) and get 6 years of work experience. That would have given me 125 instead on 115.

I think I still have enough time to go to tomorrow's pool. Can please somebody tell me if I can use my part-time work to get total years of reconginzed work?

Well submit your EOI claiming 6 years of experience, in worst scenarion CO will disregard part time experience but you still have 115 points. I too have part time experience but since my overall experience was over 10 years so CO did not bother about it. You can argue with CO later on, on converting part time to full time. No harm.

Thanks riz jr. I submitted my EOI and claimed 6 years of experience. As you have suggested, I may have to argue with the CO in the future to validate my part-time work.
