Do we have any legal comeback on a company that offered my wife a job and has no withdrawn it due to economic climate?

She was supposed to start there in 4 weeks, and their name is on our section 18a's on our visas.

Any help please!!!

Sorry to hear your news..........can you get advice from INZ site or perhaps give your CO a call for some advice.

oh man, sorry to hear this. No advice I'm afraid - but just can't believe they would do this. Do you maybe have enough points in your own right to apply anyway?

Try to get another job as quickly as possible and then inform the INZ to change the conditions. If you have same kind of job again, that will be very helpful. No point running to them without job, tehy may ask you to leave country and reapply. (sorry just my thought).

Having the other job in the hand is GOOD, though, isn't it? Wouldn't you rather be anywhere in NZ waiting for an ideal Tauranga job, rather than back in the UK...?

If you have another job, I don't see any problem with INZ. Get the paperwork done and go to them personally, I am sure you will be fine. No problem with different area, its same country.

Hi there.....bet you're really chuffed with that company, bless ya! This may help though???

Sited in our approval email from our CO.......

Please note your visas will also have section 18A conditions placed on them. Under section 18A you must:

· take up your offer of employment within 3 months of arriving in New Zealand; and

· remain in that employment (or another position of employment that meets the requirements for skilled employment) for a period of at least 3 months; and

· inform the nearest branch of Immigration New Zealand (INZ) of your residential address; and

· provide written evidence of meeting the above requirements within 7 months of arriving in New Zealand.

You will be given more information on this with your final approval letter.

As you can see from the email sue pasted,

""· remain in that employment (or another position of employment that meets the requirements for skilled employment) for a period of at least 3 months"".

You can change employer, no harm. Wish you good luck.

To be honest, just really need to get these 3 months out of the way and get the section 18as removed so we are free to do as we please as the job she has which got us in is in recruitment and if the economy carries on there will be a lot of them losing their jobs next year, as we have seen with the first one withdrawing their offer 2 months after offering it!!

Good luck for everything panning out as you would wish. Sometimes things happen that when you look back are actually for the better.
