Ok - this is a really silly one, but I can't find anything which will give me a straight answer...

I'm looking at section T with the family members. Do I need to list my full family (which could go on for years... I have a big family!!), or none, given that it is only myself and my husband applying? The help section only says "While we ask you to provide details of all your other family members in this section, remember only your partner and dependent children can be included in your application for residence."

Also - do I need to put my husband down again, as he is going in the Partner section as well?

Thanks in advance :D

Yes put your husband down.

What we did put our children, our sisters (we got no brother) and our living parents, just immediate family, that is, just in case one of them ever decide to move to NZ. Don't worry about cousins/in-laws etc.

We also put one of my sisters down on both of us' who was already live in NZ for extra points.

Thanks :nice1

I'd better get on with it then - as I said, I've got a big family, even if I'm just doing my parents and immediate siblings (and the website is on a go-slow at the moment!)

I did put nearly 50 of my cousins etc apart from brothers and sisters. Its just to let them have a chance in future to get soem benefit in case they want to visit or move to NZ. This extra labour could be lot worth for someone connected to you.

Well, I put in my immediate family, but the website wouldn't let me put in more than 6 people (immediate family plus husband) - it crashed almost every page last night!

Other relatives should have unlimited pages, don't know if INZ changed the forms now, I submitted mine back in March.

Hiya......

I only put Mum, Stepdad, Dad, Stepmum, Stepsisters, OH's Dad and Sister. Could have gone on with Aunts, Uncles, Cousins etc. but didn't bother in the end. If people are listed, I think it gives them recognition i.e. if they decide to apply at a later date or if you want to sponsor them??

I didn't put OH on there as he was already on the application as partner and we entered his kids on the dependents section so they didin't get put on that bit either!?

It's not very clearly worded, is it? We didn't put anyone else on the EOI but when we got the ITA I think I read somewhere that people couldn't claim something or other for being relatives at some time in the future if you don't put them on now. When I went to look for it again, I couldn't find it.

Anyway, the ITA allows you to add info / make corrections so I listed my three grown-up children - just names and dates of birth - and wrote that they were not emigrating with us. I figured that as my medical form says I have three living children it might look strange if the Application did not mention them. Besides, I'd love it if they wanted tomake their home out there in the future and I could help them.

Is there any requirement to list certain family members? or could i for example miss out a particular family member who i do not wish to see again, on the basis that i wouldn't sponsor them anyway?

I don't see why you need to list anyone you dont want to.

I put my parents and siblings and my wife's parent and her sibling. I did not know I could put uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces etc. I would have put my nieces and nephews (5 of them from two sisters) if I knew I could put them.

I though only people you can sponsor are parents, brothers and sisters. If I cannot sponsor the rest, then there is no reason of putting them anyway.

I don't see why you need to list anyone you dont want to.

There are many threads on this forum that state that it doesn't matter whether you fill in with all the correct details or not.

This may or may not be true, but from the form itself it does clearly state:-

Please note: if you do not declare all your family members, your residence application could be declined. If you are granted residence and it is later found that all family members were not declared, your residence may be revoked. In addition, any family members not declared may not be eligible for residence.

I for one wouldn't want my residence to be revoked.

Well nor would I, but without some guidane one what they mean by family it gets silly. I have about 100 first cousins (no, I'm not kidding) and lord knows how many children they have - I dont even know all their names.

I didn't list my sister. We don't speak, I never want to see her, and I genuinely don't know if she is alive or not. Or what name she now uses (reverted to maiden name? remarried?)

I looked at the EOI and found this:
T1 Do you have other family members? YES
T2 Close family member living in NZ who is PR or Citizen? In my case, NO
T3 Give details of ALL your family members...As defined in the guide, family includes biological and adoptive parents, and full, half, step and adopted brothers and sisters.

So, basically they want the names of parents and siblings.

I have recently had my ITA paper work and because I didn't put any other close family on the EOI except my OH and Daughter I was asked to supply the info for my close family as described above by np2nz.

So I would add them all and svae doing it later like me!

Phew - that is the level of detail that I went to (I have a large number of cousins, though not quite as many as Jaqui B, who I didn't list!)

I only went for mum, dad and sisters. I also have a huge family, nan had 10 kids, other nan had 5 kids, each of those had 3-5 kids and now we are up to an average of 2 further kids for each of those. Both mum and dad remarried, so now have new step brothers....

You ever heard that rhyme, as I was going to St Ives, I met a man with seven wives?
I live in St Ives :).

OH is primary and he put me... I didn't put anyone... (on the EOI)

Should we add our siblings and parents to the ITA?

I guess it depends on if you want to risk having your residence revoked?:exit

Any particular reason why you didn't bother filling in this part of the form?

Not too sure... might have thought that it was for people that were coming to NZ with us...

Added it to the ITA just in case!

I interpreted it as people who the PR is being extended to, or may in the future be offered to on the basis on family connections.
I can't imagine they would want me to put down my father who I haven't seen or spoken to in 15 years, or my brother who I haven't seen for 3.

We just put down ourselves and then on the ITA my husband's sister as she is the only one we'd be likely to sponsor.

I thought there was a separate section to specifically list your parents names anyhow? Been awhile since I did it but I seem to remember filling that in.
That could have been on some other paperwork though...
