Telecom hotspots charge RIDICULOUS amounts (Starbucks uses Telecom).
I haven't been able to find any free hotspots in comfy spaces, so I'll be watching this thread.

Oh no I hope someone who knows a good free spot. Here in San Diego every library and starbucks is wi fi:cool:

One option you have is to go to an Esquires cafe (there appears to be two in Christchurch) see Store Locator (http://www.esquires.co.nz/store/locator/index) for details (drag the map down to Christchurch).

It isn't free as you have to buy something e.g. a coffee but not too bad.

Esquires is nice, one drink/item gets you an hour. The one in Belfast is quite nice.
The libraries are (mostly) free and also have nice cafes. I can recommend the ones in New Brighton and Cashmere. Linwood doesn't have wifi I don't think and not sure about too many others.
