Hi all,
We are over for our reccie in April, and as part of the trip will be spending 1 week in wellington, as this is where we are looking to move to.
What we would like to do for that week is to arrange an apartment so we can get an idea of "living there" i.e food costs.
Does anyone know of any where reasonable that would be of suit?
Ideally looking at around a max of $150/Night.
Thanks
John

See if the Southern Cross Apartment/Hotel meets your needs. We stayed there for about two weeks when we first arrived. It's centrally located and cheap and has a kitchenette. I recommend it.

Ideally it would have been nice to have been out a little futher, but we have book the Southern Cross now, $66NZD/Night.
It will only be as a base, it means we can spean a little more now on the other places we are staying in Taupo/Hastings.
Thanks All.

Keith, did you find it easy to find a good rental in two weeks?

I can't speak to the parking situation. We didn't have a car.
I thought of another idea for those who need something for a little longer. After staying at the Southern Cross, we moved into some student accommodations at Victoria University. (I happen to be a student. My wife is not.) The University Hall (http://www.victoria.ac.nz/st_services/accommodation/halls-available/university.aspx) rents flats to nonstudents in the summer. They're furnished, centrally located and cheap. My wife and I are in a 3br flat by ourselves right now. This has given us more time to locate the place of our dreams:nice1. We tried to find a place quickly when we first got here, but it was too hectic. It can be done, but I prefer to take my time.

Excellent idea, Keith. I'll be looking into it over the weekend ... although I did notice from a quick peek that the summer rentals stop as of mid-February. But still well worth looking into! Thank you!

The bad news is that I think the office staff just went on a long Christmas break (until Jan 5th).

Well you've already booked, but I was going to suggest where we stayed - Central City Apartment Hotel. Hope you love Wellington!

I stayed at At Home Wellington (www.athomewellington.co.nz) last month for a week, it was $150 per night. Pretty nice, heat-pump, kitchen with oven, even had a clothes washer/dryer combo.
Located one block from Te Papa museum. Going a block in the other direction is a major bus stop (Courtney Place). New World Supermarket about a 5 minute walk away.
