Places like Queenstown, Oamaru and Timaru only got to 9C today, and we're only a few days short of the summer solstice! :o
Even Christchurch got to only about 11C or 12C.
Meanwhile, Hastings got to 28C.
What a crazy climate! :cheers

Being new to NZ the variations in weather temperatures never ceases to amaze me, the south island particularly 27C one day, 13C the next. Here in Auckland it's seems to have been warm for ages now, even today turned out better than forecast.

Yep, 12C here in Wellington at 2PM. On the longest day of the year. Sometimes, you just have to laugh!

Oh no! Hope it warms up because we are snowed in here in the States and can't even get our moving container to our house! (everything is packed up though). We are a few weeks away to flying to Chch and we are looking forward to summer weather! Think sun! :yes

Just when the run-up to this weekend seemed like all rain & gloom, the clouds parted before mid-day and the hills and valleys were once again bathed in glorious golden sunshine! :nice1

It's now approaching 2125 HRS in Christchurch, we are still enjoying the final hours of daylight! :)

Hi all
been dreamin of living in Nz for some time now
i understand the weather is changeable and that the N isle is warmer and wetter than the S isle

England in winter can be v wet and v cold with the temp often down to 0 - -10c even in the south west

how does the weather in general change through the seasons in the south west coast compared to the English seasons (not Scotland,Wales etc) and in general not just the hilly lakes etc.

would be good to hear some realistic views/experiences of NZ weather especially from those that spend alot of time outdoors (hiking, biking and motorcycling etc

thankyou and i hope you are all well and happy and to maybe "bump" into one or two of you when i am fortunante enough to visit/live in NZ
