We have just submitted outr ITA to the London branch and they received it on Friday... OH and I don't like to keep a lot of money in our checking accounts... but we also don't have to get hit with a Insufficient Funds fee from the bank.
Will NZIS tell us when they will charge the Application fee? Migrant fee?
About how long after they receive the paperwork will they charge us?

I think they will try and take the application fee pretty sharpish, although you are probably best off checking with your case officer ;)
they can only charge the migrant levy fee once they have given the application final approval (I know not everyone includes payment details for this with their ITAS paperwork)

They billed us a couple of days after our ITA was lodged for the application fee. They send you a receipt for this and a letter acknowledging that your ITA was lodged and the date on which this occurred. This arrived about 10-12 days after the ITA was lodged.
We knew before we got the receipt that we had been billed as we checked our online account info on our credit card.
The migrant levy will not be charged until you are granted PR and you send in your passports. They charge the migrant levy at the same time they put the stickers in your passport.

So does "lodged" mean when the got it in the mail.... or when they actually start working on it?

They charged us within a few days of arrival. If yours is taking more time than you'd expect, blame Christmas. :p

Based on our timeline, I believe "lodged" is when they receive it, and acknowledge that they receive it- but unfortunately not when they start working on it.

Yes I think that's right. Only benefit I found from this was that I missed a policy change by one day. Phew.
Basically, when you send your ITA, make sure the money is in the account!

That would be immediatly. As soon as they get the ITA in the post, someone will open it, check it and take out the payment details to process. Ours came out the bank 2 days after sending, so likely sitting on a desk for 1 day during processing.

"Lodged" means that they officially have received and processed it into their waiting list for a CO.
