Could someone confirm please - is a UK citizen able to apply for a 2yr WHV whilst on an extended holiday (up to 6 months) in NZ? Can everything be done in NZ, applcation lodged, medical etc.

Sons girlfriend will be visiting later in the year and she MAY decide she wants to extend her stay (at the moment it looks likely) so we need plans in place just in case.

Thanks, Carole

Hi Carole, have a look at this link (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/workingholiday/unitedkingdomworkingholidayscheme.htm)

It says "If you are already in New Zealand you also need to hold a valid temporary permit" so yes she can apply here while on a visitor permit. She will be able to apply for a 23 month WHV but can only work for 12 months in this time.

She will have to have medicals and chest x-rays, but they can be done at any doctor in NZ

Hope that helps :D
