Hi All,
I am sure I have read a thread about this topic before, but I know it's a case of horses for courses, but what would the minimum amount of cash you would emigrate with?
We were hoping to bring over £50.000 after the sale of our house but due to us having to drop the value of our house, we are now looking at around £35.000.
We will be living with my parents for a few months so we will be able to save a few more pounds.
Can anyone please send me the thread about this topic if they know where it is.
Thank you
Ada

Ada, not sure where that thread is, but I really think it's so hard to call for others. Someone posted recently that they are not managing mortgage free on 2 "professional" salaries (whatever that means) in Auckland's North Shore, whereas others came over with literally their suitcase and have managed to find their feet.
It might be useful to focus on thinking about a budget for arriving with different amounts, say GBP20k, 35k etc and see how that pans out, rather than trying to bring a certain amount?

We will do it in 2 tranches:
1) bring around NZD 60K which should be enough to feed my family over 12 months and leave some spare for a car.
2) if I find a decent job within this time, we will sell our house (thank god that we do not have a real estate crisis here in Switzerland) and bring the rest for a cosy little place to live (otherwise we will be on the way back home…)
Given that the NZD crashed by 40% vs Swissy and home prices came down by 10-15%, I'd love to do all now at once, but my better half is not such a risk taker :laugh

I'm sure you will be fine with £35.000!
That comes out to about NZ$87,000.00
