Hi ,
We are just going through our ITA and getting medicals etc sorted and Police certs etc. One thing I am stuck on is Section D for all of us. This is "You must provide evidence that you meet the English Language requirements as dexribed in the "Guide to Applying for Residence under the Skilled Migrant Category" Q: How do we go about proving this? We were born in the UK and our native English speakers.
Also How can I prove Work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage? Im in IT and have worked for several organizations in the UK. Do I need to write to these organizations and ask for a letter confirming that I worked for them in a certain role? Would this be enough proof for the ITA?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there
if you're born in the uk then you're fine about english language proof - you can either prove it by proving that you did a qualification completed entirely in english (by showing proof of your certificate/degree etc) or by showing that you meet the requirements some other way (and I think under this heading it says that if you were born and lived in a country where english is the main language then it will suffice as proof - like england etc). wish I could find the link . . . . look here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/skilledmigrant/caniapply/requirements/english/
I think under the 'we will consider a number of factors' that includes being born in an english speaking country and living there all your life, going to school in england etc. I sincerely doubt you will have to do a test.
And yes, you do need letters from previous employers to prove that you worked there. Although some people have not been able to provide this as company has closed/lost contact whatever, and I believe some people have supplied pay slips, contracts and other paperwork that they had from their previous employment. I think you'll have to prove too that the work you did was related to the skills area (maybe someone else can clarify this)
Good luck

you can also use your national insurance contributions as evidence of years of experience. i am a nurse and some of the hospitals i have worked at only keep employment records for 7 years, they could say i was there but had no record of my contracted hours. so i wrote to the national insurance office in newcastle and they sent me a print out of all my contributions to prove the hours i worked as i have worked part time hours since having the children.
i also had pay slips for the past 5 years but i didn't need them as it turned out.

We just put that we were born in the UK and had always lived there, English spoken as first language.
With regards to work experience, we had some Role descriptions which we sent off along with letters from bosses, role salary reviews etc all to prove evidence. I remember that by the time we were done our pile of paperwork to be submitted was as high as the Yello Pages!! (we are a family of 5)
Good luck:nice1

We were told that as our degrees were taught in English we did not need further proof (both English (well, OH part Welsh) with English as our first (and only) language) <- way too many brackets!!!
